We are Southern California’s Revolution! For the past 10+ years, the Mojave and the world have witnessed an incredible movement: High Desert Volleyball. Though born in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1895, volleyball was thought to have been strictly a beach game, or at least an indoor game played at coastal schools and cities. This is no longer the case. With key players on numerous NCAA Volleyball National Championship teams, the Antelope Valley cannot be denied as one of the country’s most fertile resources for all universities and colleges to find young volleyball talent. While 2004 marked its first year of physical existence, “Revolution” was born in the mind of Turhan Douglas in the Summer of 2001. Despite his many successes in the various realms of the volleyball universe, for Turhan winning was not enough. He wanted to bring his brand of volleyball closer to home. For years, the Antelope Valley’s best junior volleyball athletes (and their parents) braved the gridlocked and stagnant freeways of Los Angeles County in order to find a quality club volleyball program. Even the 28-mile trek to Santa Clarita was enough to cause a perfectly rational person to “road-rage”. Enough was enough. Turhan decided it was time to put up or shut up and introduced his revolutionary idea to then USC Assistant Coach (and fellow Antelope Valley resident) Mark Cruz. Mark agreed that there were more than enough athletes and resources in the Antelope Valley and its surrounding areas to compete with the nation’s best. After three years of culmination and anticipation, Revolution Volleyball Club became a reality. Mission Statement: Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of junior volleyball athletes to help them realize and achieve their highest athletic potential. Our goal is to “Revolution”-ize volleyball by providing our athletes with the knowledge and enthusiasm necessary to compete with the elite volleyball players of today and to become the elite volleyball players of tomorrow. |
